AI as Operating System
May 22, 2026

Before AI, there was AM

130 years ago, electricity sparked the exact same fears we hear about AI today. Here's why AI as the operating system of work is the real opportunity — not the threat.

Before AI, there was AM

👉 Before AI, there was AM

⚡Do you still remember AM?
Back then people said: ⚠️ “People will lose their jobs.” ⚠️ “We can’t control this.” ⚠️ “This will change everything.”

People were afraid. People wanted to stop it. People believed the world would become worse. And honestly?
It DID change everything. AM was the beginning of a completely new era.
Today, everyone talks about AI. But the discussion reminds me so much of that time. Because more than 130 years ago, people had the exact same fears.
AM = Artificial Muscle

⚡With the introduction of electricity, human muscle power suddenly became scalable. Machines started handling repetitive physical work — allowing humans to focus on bigger, more complex, and more creative problems. And now it’s happening again. But this time, it’s not about muscle power. It’s about cognitive power 🧠AI will become the new infrastructure of work. I see AI evolving in 3 layers:
🔎 L1 — AI as the replacement for search Asking instead of Googling.
🛠️ L2 — AI for building tools & applicationsAgents, automations, and entirely new products.

But the real shift happens in:
🏗️ L3 — AI-first Operating SystemsA company where AI touches every artifact first:
Support. Tickets. Communication. Documentation. Processes. Decisions. Code. Not as a feature. Not as an add-on. But as the foundation. And that’s the hardest part. Because L3 doesn’t just change software. It changes how humans work. For me, that’s where the real opportunity of AI lies: Not replacing humans. But automating repetitive tasks so humans can spend more time on creativity, strategy, relationships, and true innovation.

As founder of HS-Soft AG, I believe this is the future. ⚡Not simply using AI — but building AI-first.
